About The Tattered Tatter
For over 50 years, tatting has woven its way through the fabric of my life, starting from my childhood. This art form, simple yet profound, needs only a shuttle, thread, and a trusty pair of scissors to create something truly beautiful. Tatting’s simplicity offers a freedom that has always captivated me, providing one of the rare activities that can keep me still—though I’ve often found myself walking around with multiple shuttles in hand!
Tatting in Everyday Life
Tatting is more than a craft; it’s a rhythm and comfort that follows me everywhere. Whether I’m watching TV, engrossed in an audiobook, chatting with friends, or even sitting in meetings, tatting is my constant companion and creative outlet. It’s a timeless art with a rich history that dates back beyond the Victorian era, when intricate designs adorned delicate doilies and fine edgings.
Tradition Meets Modern Creativity
Today, I find joy in blending this traditional art with modern creativity. I design pieces meant to be worn, displayed, and cherished in new ways. From jewelry and ornaments to decorative accents, each piece is made with care, patience, and a deep appreciation for this enduring craft. What was once “grandma’s doilies” has evolved into something vibrant and versatile. I am honored to continue this beautiful tradition, breathing new life into every stitch.
